"My little terrace is a beautiful sea of green in my inner-city home. The brief to Jane was for a garden oasis where I could sit and enjoy the space with as many edible plants as possible. She recommended some fabulous pots that really work in well with the concrete, steel and glass house. With a lemon, lime and bay tree the foliage is beautiful. There is also a great passionfruit climbing up the stark brick wall which really softens the space. With plantings of thyme, mint, parsley, coriander, chives, basil, oregano, rosemary, lemon grass and asparagus I have all the herbs I need in a beautiful garden setting. Jane has a fantastic design sense and has managed to create a wonderful garden space for me in the industrial heartland of North Melbourne."
The brief for this urban terrace garden was to provide as much greenery as possible as a buffer for the high density, high rise environment in which the house is situated. The client also wanted the garden to be productive. Pots were selected to work with the surrounding environment and the modern architecture of the house. The size and shape were selected to allow for height in the citrus trees planted in them. The small size of the terrace dictated that the pots be used efficiently and herbs planted under the citrus trees spill over the edges and a Passionfruit plant is attached to the 3 storey brick wall.
